Martek Oils in Philippines, Saudi Arabia

COLUMBIA, Md.--Martek Biosciences Corp.'s nutritional oils are now being usedin an infant formula sold in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. The oils containdocosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and arachidonic acid (ARA), which are essentiallyvegetable oils that contain two long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids. DHA andARA are the fundamental building blocks of the brain and the retina.

According to Martek, the British Nutrition Foundation and the Joint ExpertCommittee on Human Nutrition of the United Nations Food and AgricultureOrganization and World Health Organization have recommended that both DHA andARA are included in all infant formulas.
