Omega-3 May Reduce High Blood Pressure
RESTON, Va.--Researchers found that omega-3 fatty acids may reduce high blood pressure.Presented at an American Heart Association meeting in early June, a review of currentstudies concurred that omega-3 supplementation (on average, three grams per day) may lowerblood pressure. Study participants were fed meals consisting of 50 grams of fat per day,derived from olive oil, canola oil and salmon. The research was done to study the effectsof the Mediterranean diet, which is high in monounsaturated fat and antioxidants. For moreinformation, visit www.americanheart.org.
