In this podcast, Steve Mister and Rend Al-Mondhiry of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) weigh in on regulation of dietary supplements, as well as initiatives being spearheaded by the industry to bolster consumer confidence in products and aid the efforts of federal regulators.

In spite of the 1994 Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), media organizations and others continue to report from time to time that dietary supplements are lightly regulated or not subject to FDA oversight.

In this podcast with Josh Long, INSIDER's legal editor, Steve Mister and Rend Al-Mondhiry of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) discuss:

•regulation of dietary supplements under DSHEA;

•FDA enforcement of the Federal Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act; and

•self-regulatory initiatives to bolster consumer confidence in supplements and compliment the efforts of federal regulators.

Mister and Al-Mondhiry will be speaking on Tuesday, Sept. 26, during a workshop at SupplySide West in Las Vegas. The workshop “Regulators & The Regulated,” will explore the Trump administration's new FTC, lawsuits and investigations brought by state attorneys general, and the benefits of self-regulatory initiatives.
